Ganvie
Ganvié is a lake dwelling in Benin. It is in Nokoué Lake north of Cotonou and has approximately 20,000 inhabitants, probably the largest built on a lake village in Africa. The main sources of income of the population are fish in the lagoon as well as tourism.
World Heritage Site status
The village was established in 1996 set to the default list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
