Gao Ling

Gao Ling (Chinese高 崚, Pinyin Gao Ling, born March 14, 1979 in Wuhan, Hubei Province ) is a badminton player from the People's Republic of China and Olympic champion.

Career

Gao won in 2000 with her partner Qin Yiyuan the women's doubles badminton Swiss Open. The same pair won the bronze medal at the Summer Olympics 2000.

Gao took for China in badminton at the 2004 Olympics in women's doubles with her partner Huang Sui part. They had a bye in the first round and beat in the second round Chin Eei Hui and Wong Pei Tty of Malaysia. In the quarterfinals, Gao and Huang, Ann- Lou Jørgensen and Rikke Olsen conquered from Denmark with 15:6, 15:7. They won the semifinal against Zhao Tingting and Wei Yili of China with 15:10, 17:14, but lost the final against Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei, also from China, with 7:15, 15:4, 15:8 to the silver medal win.

She also took in mixed competition with her partner Zhang Jun part. They had a bye in the first round and beat in the second round Tsai Chia- Hsin and Cheng Wen- Hsing from the Republic of China. In the quarterfinals, Gao and Zhang Fredrik Bergström and Johanna Persson from Sweden defeated with 15:3, 15:1, to advance to the semifinals. There they beat Jens Eriksen and Mette Schjoldager from Denmark with 15:9, 15:5. In the final they won against the British pair Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms with 15:1, 12:15, 15:12 the gold medal.

She also won the women's doubles together with Huang competition of the Badminton Swiss Open 2004. Two years later, Gao Ling, together with Huang Sui at the Individual World Championships in Madrid discharged world champion in women's doubles. In 2007 she was a member of the Chinese team that the Sudirman Cup against Indonesia successfully defended in Glasgow on 17 June. In the Badminton World Cup 2007, she won both silver in the Mixed together with Zheng Bo and silver in women's doubles with Huang Sui.
