Gharb or L- Gharb is a village at the westernmost point of the island of Gozo ( Malta). The town's name derives "west " from the Arabic word for sunset, in the sense of starting.

The motto of the town is " In extremo Vigilat ". On 31 December 2010 Gharb had 1167 inhabitants. Mayor of the town since 1997, David Apap.

Attractions

In 1679 a church was formed, for the 1699-1729 baroque church was built. A little outside of town is the Basilica ta ' Pinu, Malta's pilgrimage and outstanding shrine to the Virgin Mary. According to legend, a young woman in 1883 heard the voice of the Virgin here.

North of the village, on the coast is the Wied il - Mielah Window, a naturally formed rock arch. To the northeast you can see the lighthouse Giordan Lighthouse, which can also be reached via a steep gravel road on the coast.
