Garbiñe Muguruza

Garbiñe Muguruza Blanco (born 8 October 1993 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a Spanish tennis player.

Career

Muguruza Blanco began at the age of five years with the tennis games. She prefers playing on clay.

For attention she made her way into the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in 2012 when she defeated the former world number two and two-time semi-finalist of the tournament, Vera Swonarjowa, 6-4, 6-3. In Miami she was defeated in April 2012 in the second round of the later champion Agnieszka Radwańska. With the quarter-finals of Fes, which they lost to the later tournament champion Kiki Bertens from the Netherlands, they improved to 118 in the world rankings.

In January 2013 she succeeded then the first title on the WTA Tour. In the final game of Hobart defeated them at the side of her compatriot Maria Teresa Torró Flor pairing Tímea Babos / Mandy Minella. A year later she won this same tournament as a qualifier her first WTA singles title with a playoff victory over Klára Zakopalová.

At the Australian Open, she moved in 2014 with a victory over the former world number one Caroline Wozniacki for the first time in the second round of a Grand Slam tournament. In March, she reached the final of the WTA tournament in Florianopolis ( Brazil ), in which this time they Zakopalová defeated in three sets.
