The Antibes railway station is a railway station in the southern French town of Antibes on the Côte d' Azur. The train station is on the railway line Marseille- Ventimiglia and is served by long-distance and regional trains.

History

The station was opened in 1863 simultaneously with the start of the section Les Arcs -Cagnes -sur -Mer today's railway route from Marseille to Ventimiglia.

Reception building

The station building faces the sea and consists of a rectangular floor plan. It was completed in 2001. In the building a hip roof is put on. At the end of the building is a glass gangway connecting the receiver located at the side of the building platform to the middle platform.

Traffic

The train station of Antibes is used by both of remote and regional trains. All passenger trains which pass through the station, insert a stop.

In Antibes keep TGV trains of various relations:

  • Geneva -Cornavin -Marseille- Antibes -Nice
  • Metz-Ville/Dijon-Ville-Lyon Part-Dieu - Antibes -Nice
  • Bruxelles -Midi -Lille -Lyon - Antibes -Nice

Regional Transport

In regional transport the TER PACA since 2008, takes over the task, even in a regular timetable. The different lines have different retention frequencies, especially those with longer routes operate as accelerated regional trains

  • Grasse / Cannes -La Bocca - Antibes -Nice - Ventimiglia (alternating to Grasse or Cannes- La Bocca - stopping at all stations )
  • Marseille- Antibes- Nice ( accelerated)
  • Les Arcs - Antibes- Nice ( accelerated)

Future

  • After taking place in 2020, commissioning of the LGV Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur Antibes is expected to be served by no TGVs more. The nearest train station would be the planned TGV train Nice- St. Augustin are, or located in Mougins, between Cannes and Grasse.
  • Due to the congestion of the existing line of section Antibes- Cagnes -sur -Mer is expanded to three tracks. It is scheduled to be held in late 2013.
