Gareth Emery ( born July 18, 1980 in Southampton, England ) is a British trance DJ and music producer.

Biography

Background

Gareth Emery was born in Southampton and now lives in Manchester (England) and is a trance DJ and music producer. In his childhood and youth he was given piano lessons and listened to jazz, sometimes a little punk rock. In recent years, he became one of the most important trance DJs. Since at number 34 of the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, he landed in 2006, he rose every year. He was ranked 31 in 2007 and 2008 ranks 23rd Worldwide he is regarded as one of the new global stars of trance music genre. Both Paul van Dyk and Ferry Corsten called him in both 2006 and 2007 as a future star in the DJ Mag Top 100 interviews. In 2009, Gareth Emery could land 100 for the first time in the top 10 of the DJ Mag Top when he was number 9. In 2010 Gareth Emery released on his album "Northern Lights" with his sister Roxanne Emery the single " Too Dark Tonight".

The breakthrough 2002/2003

For the first time Emery great attention has been paid in 2002, when his remix of the title Nervous Breakdown by The Shrink live at BBC Radio 1 from the Mardi Gras Festival in Judge Jules demonstration was played. After several DJs, including Eddie Halliwell, Pete Tong, Guy Ornadel, Scot Project and Dave Pearce, played the title, the song of Nutrition was published and was also represented later on the Godskitchen Direct mix album. This was followed by a hard tech trance remix of Nervous Breakdown, before he turned his attention back towards trance, with the release of Psiclone and Flood Control on a record on his own label Influential. The publication was included in all the major DJs attention, Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten. The big breakthrough came with his title as GTR Mistral, which was his fourth title. He produced it within two weeks while on holiday in Provence (France) on his laptop. Nevertheless, the title sparked a storm of enthusiasm when the title was first played by Paul van Dyk at Nature One Festival. The title was taken up by some of the most important DJs, including Tiesto, Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten and got very positive reviews in Mixmag, Muzik and DJ.

The progress of his music career (2004 to 2006)

In the years 2004 to 2006 Emery tried to establish himself in the music business. He worked long for the label Five AM, of which he was co-owner, and sat down as a DJ through by appearing in British nightclubs such as Godskitchen, Slinky or Ministry of Sound.

Global Success (2006 to present)

In 2006, Emery was globally known sometimes by his own radio show The Gareth Emery Podcast, which launched in March 2006, and was finally successful when he went back into the studio. Before 2006, it was uncertain whether Gareth Emery ever be success with GTR - could outdo Mistral (2003 ), but he managed it with the release of his remix of Albert Vorne Formentera What and titled Another You, Another Me together with his friend DJ Lange. In recent years, Emery showed little sign of fatigue. He has published numerous major titles and remixes as More Than Anything, This Is That and his biggest hit in 2009 exposure. He has established itself as a globally successful DJ and producer, now under his new label Garuda.

Style

Emery has a distinctive and unique style, which can be viewed as a mixture of trance and progressive house. It also elements of Psytrance, Tribal House and Techno occur. Its productions are described as intelligent, driving, melodic and progressive. He is known for having some plays different styles of music in his mixes and his podcasts and has often rejected the division as a trance DJ, because he was playing good titles, regardless of the music genre.

Labels

From 2003 to 2008 Gareth Emery was connected to the ( now no longer -existing ) label Five AM, in which some of his biggest hits were released ( Mistral / This is That / More Than Anything ) and where he was co-owner. The end of 2008 he announced that he will step out at Five AM and instead his own label Garuda is found that 100% belongs to him. The first release of Garuda was his own title Exposure / Metropolis in May 2009. The title was very successful and led over a month to download charts from sites like Beatport or Audio Jelly.

Garuda

Garuda is Emery's new label in which all tracks produced by him, be published in the future. It is named after the famous mythological Indonesian bird, the Emery met during a tour in Indonesia. His label is also involved in events of the night clubs Sankey hang up ( in Manchester ), where normally Gareth Emery and a guest. Previous guests have included Ferry Corsten and Above & Beyond.

Podcast

Gareth Emery Gareth Emery Podcast produced his own podcast which is between 60 and 120 minutes and every 2 weeks on Thursdays appears. The podcast was "Best Podcast" nominee at the Miami Winter Music Conference and is considered one of the most popular dance music podcasts on the Internet ( is the fact that this was one of the first ).

Gareth Emery productions contain publications under the pseudonyms GTR, Cupa and digital blues. Previously, he has worked with Lange, Solid Globe, Jon O'Bir and CERN with publication under various labels such as A State of Trance, Lost Language, Multiply, Bonzai, and his own label Five AM. In May 2005, Gareth released his first mix CD "Five AM Sessions: Volume One ".
