Garry Marshall

Garry Kent Marshall ( born November 13, 1934 in New York City ) is an American film director, actor and film producer.

Life and career

Marshall's father was of Italian descent and whose real name was Anthony Wallace Marsciarelli, but changed his name even before the birth of his son, Marshall.

Garry Marshall graduated in 1952, the DeWitt Clinton High School in New York. He studied at Northwestern University in Evanston, where he worked for a student newspaper. He first worked as a writer for comedian Joey Bishop and Phil Foster, later he worked for the Tonight Show.

1961 Marshall moved to Hollywood, where he worked for the television first. He has directed the films Pretty Woman and The Bride, Runaway; in both, he took small supporting roles. As director of the film Frankie & Johnny, he worked with Michelle Pfeiffer and Al Pacino together in the film Nothing in Common - you have nothing in common from 1986 with Tom Hanks. In the movie Never Been Kissed from 1999 he played the head of the newspaper in which worked, played by Drew Barrymore reporter. In the same year he turned The Other Sister with Juliette Lewis and Diane Keaton.

Garry Marshall has been married since 1963 to actress Barbara Marshall, which occurred in some of his films. He has three children. His sister is the director Penny Marshall.
