Gary Gensler

Gary Gensler ( * 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland ) is an American politician and chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission under President Barack Obama.

Life

Gensler graduated from 1974 to 1978 to study at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, he with a B.Sc. economics completed. In 1979 he was awarded the MBA. Then Gensler worked for the U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs, before he began his political career.

Gensler was 1997-1999 Under-Secretary at the U.S. Treasury ( Assistant Secretary of the Treasury ); then he served until 2001 as Secretary of State ( Under Secretary of the Treasury ).

He was married to Francesca Danieli († 2006), with whom he has three daughters and lives near Baltimore.
