Gary Hug

Gary Hug is an American amateur astronomer and discoverer of asteroids. He is together with his colleague Graham E. Bell the Farpoint Observatory of Northeast Kansas Amateur Astronomers League ( NEKAAL ) in Eskridge, Kansas.

In the course of his observations, he discovered between 1999 and 2006 more than 40 asteroids. He is also the co-discoverer of short-period comets 178P/Hug-Bell.

Awards

He is, along with two other amateur astronomers, the recipient of the Gene Shoemaker NEO Grant of 2009.
