Gary Kurfirst

Gary Kurfirst ( * 1947, † January 13, 2009 in Nassau, Bahamas) was an American film and music producer.

Life

Kurfirst began in his school days with the organization of musical performances. In 1968 he organized the New York rock festival, which attracted 18,000 visitors and in which appeared, among others, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. He also served as manager of Blondie, Talking Heads and the Eurythmics.

He produced four films, including Stop Making Sense by Jonathan Demme and We're Outta Here!, A documentary about the Ramones. He was twice nominated for the Independent Spirit Awards.
