Gary Marx

Gary Marx (actually Mark Frederick Pearman ) is an English guitarist and composer.

Gary Marx was the late 1970s, singer and composer of the band Naked Voices from Leeds. The band played several concerts in and around Leeds and recorded a demo tape. After the end of this band he met in Leeds Andrew Eldritch know and founded with him 1980, the rock band The Sisters of Mercy.

Marx's guitar playing shaped the early phase of the Sisters. After 1984 Wayne Hussey replaced the stepped out Ben Gunn at the Sisters as a second guitarist, they clashed over the direction in which the band's sound should develop. Gary Marx composed the half of the 1985 Sisters album First and Last and Always.

Exasperated left Marx 1985, the Sisters founded with singer Anne -Marie Hurst, the band Ghost Dance. Ghost Dance broke up in 1990. After the end of the band, he was initially some time in the local music scene in Leeds active.

Gary Marx worked during the 1990s as a teacher at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts before he started in 2004 to release solo albums on their own.
