Gastre Department

The department Gastre located in the north of the province of Chubut in southern Argentina and one of the 15 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the province of Río Negro, on the east by the departments Telsen and Martyrs, on the south by the Departamento Paso de Indios and to the west by the departments Languiñeo and Cushamen.

The capital of the department Gastre is the same Gastre.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the total population of 1,508 inhabitants (2001 ) rose slightly to 1,516 inhabitants in 2005.
