Gatteville-le-Phare

Husband Ville- le-Phare is a commune with 486 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region, which is known for its distinctive lighthouse, which was built on the Pointe de Barfleur.

Toponymy

The name is derived from the Germanic name Gatto. Then follows the French suffix- ville. 1947 le-Phare has been added. There is an allusion to the lighthouse.

Geography

Husband Ville- le-Phare is situated on the Cotentin Peninsula. It is in the Armorican Massif, where Barfleur granite comes to digestion. The neighboring communities are:
