Gatwick Airport railway station

Gatwick Airport station is the Gatwick Airport on the Brighton Main Line, the main line between London and Brighton Railway. The platforms are located directly below the south terminal and the ticket office adjacent to the main hall. The station is currently one of 17 that are managed by the rail infrastructure company Network Rail. Gatwick Airport is served by trains of the companies Gatwick Express, Southern, Southeastern, First Great Western, First Capital Connect and Virgin Trains.

The station was opened in 1891 by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway under the name Gatwick. A former station on the same site had been closed in 1876. From 1946 to 1958, the station was called because of the adjacent racecourse Gatwick Racecourse, before it was rebuilt in the same year as part of the expansion of the airport and renamed Gatwick Airport.
