Gauliga Niedersachsen

The Gauliga (later: Range League ) Lower Saxony was one of 16 Gauligen, the top football leagues in Germany after the Nazi seizure of power.

History

Starting in 1933, ten in Lower Saxony teams played for participation in the German Cup, where the Gauligameister allowed to participate. A year later, the championship was increased by a team since Victoria William Castle was built from the Gauliga Nordmark in the Lower Saxon Gauliga. The number of teams then stayed another year at eleven clubs, as VfB Peine to irregularities in the first season, the league was taken 1933/34, in which the club was relegated back to the Football League.

After 1937 a number of neighboring towns of Hamburg, Harburg- including William Castle, were incorporated into the city, the number of participants of the league experienced a strong mixing, as the teams from these places were again competed in the Gauliga Nordmark. By 1939, ten teams played to the Gaumeisterschaft. Subsequently, the league was split into two squads with six clubs, with the first season winner in return game playing off the master. Two years later, took the top three teams in the respective squadrons participated in a final round of the group of participants of the German championship.

1942, the sport of Lower Saxony was disbanded, the league finally split and first divided into the Gauligen Südhannover - Brunswick and Weser- Ems, to which a year later joined the Gauliga Osthannover.
