Gauliga Wartheland

The Gauliga Warta country was one of the top leagues in the era of National Socialism. The regional champion of the Warta Country was determined in the existing 1941-1944 League, representing the Sportgau in the final round of the German soccer championship.

History

In the Gauliga Wartheland played from 1941 German teams from the occupied western Poland, which had been incorporated after the Polish campaign as Reichsgau Warta country to the German Reich. All Polish clubs in the region had been banned with the establishment of the German administration, only German were organized sports.

In the first season, six teams were represented in the league into two groups, where one team was eliminated from the game operation during the course of the season with SG SS Poznan and Lodz TSG from each group. At the end of the season, group winners played in return game from the Gaumeister.

For the season 1942/43, the two groups were combined so that henceforth ten teams competed in a single season at the Gaumeisterschaft. In the following season, however, different with the SG free house again a team during the season from the competition.

The representatives of the Gauliga Warta country had no chance in their Appearances and left each of their first round. Because of the approaching front of the game was shut down in the fall of 1944, the German clubs dissolved.
