The Gaura ( Gaura lindheimeri ), also Camas is a plant from the family of the evening primrose family ( Onagraceae ). It is native to southern North America in the border region between the U.S. and Mexico.

The variety " Elfenbusserl " was chosen as the Bavarian balcony plant of the year 2007.

Description

The Gaura grows as a clump-forming, perennial herbaceous plant, reaching heights of growth between 50 and 150 centimeters. The upright to bent, slightly branched stems are finely hairy. The blue- green leaves are up to 8 centimeters long and narrow elliptic to spatulate or weak fiederförmig shared with weak coarse toothed leaf margins.

The standing on long flower stems, 2 to 3 inches long single flowers open in succession.
