Gay-Lussac (crater)

Gay -Lussac is an impact crater, which is north of the prominent crater Copernicus located in the foothills of the Montes carpatus mountain range.

The rim looks slightly deformed, but is substantially circular. The crater floor is level, but rough. A central peak is missing, in its place, the floor several small depressions on.

At the southeastern edge of the crater, the satellite crater Gay -Lussac A connects.

To the southwest, a wide groove extends named Rima Gay -Lussac. The nearly rectilinear formation with curves at both ends extends over a distance of 40 km from southwest to northeast.
