Gazza (musician)

Gazza, civil Lazarus Ndeshimona Shiimi ( born March 10, 1977 in Oshakati ) is a Namibian musician and artist of Kwaito.

His nickname Gazza received Shiimi already in his youth in the form of a nickname when he was still actively played football and for his alleged abilities on the field by his teammates on the basis of the former English football idol Paul Gazza Gascoigne was nicknamed Gazza. For music, Gazza had been interested in since a very early age and was, therefore, since grade school choirs and bands active.

Gazza is also a music producer and songwriter. He interpreted exclusively self-written works.

Origin

Gazza was raised with seven siblings raised by a single mother and grew up in relative poverty. His father had died early, and then Gazza spent much of his youth with the herding goats.

Musical arrangement

Gazzas early role models during his youth were especially MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice. He began after his graduation first a study of economics in the South African Cape Town, for his entire family had saved. However, he broke this study after a short time and returned to Namibia. There he worked as a casual laborer and composed alongside his first musical works.

Gazza was active in many different genres to finding his true musical style, the Kwaito, at a young age. In retrospect, these experiences contributed to his now highly developed ability to make different styles incorporated into his musical works. In contrast, Gazza pursued but in terms of the thematic content of his music has always been a clear line, prefer the life of the poorer Namibians as well as life is discussed in poorer neighborhoods. His 2010 released album Cosa Nostra (La Familia ), which came on the market in a limited edition of 6,000 units, in 2012 sold out and no longer available as an original in Namibia.

GMP ( Gazza Music Productions cc)

2003 called Gazza his own music label in which GMP, short for Gazza Music Productions cc. From the beginning he looked at his music label as a platform that young Namibian artists the presentation, promotion and extension should allow their musical skills. A new generation of Namibian musicians should therefore be determined sponsored by the GMP label.

Live performances and media effectiveness

Gazza has since performed live in almost every African country due to its popularity and also occurred outside Africa. In Namibia, Gazza has grown over the years into a constant -present in print media, radio and television, public persona.

Rivalries and criticism

For many years, there is a great rivalry between the two Namibian music labels GMP and Mshasho. Others

In collaboration with the First National Bank Gazza committed to the sustainable development of young Namibians as well as for traffic safety. Gazza has long been an official ambassador of the Namibian Ministry of Education. Within the framework of government projects such as Future Forward & Future Save he has now visited more than 30 Namibian schools, to highlight the importance of a comprehensive education.

In addition, Gazza has worked as a member of Team Namibia for the preferential purchase of products which are produced in Namibia to contribute in this way to general prosperity and economic growth.
