GCC Champions League
The GCC Champions League Gulf Cooperation Council ( Champions League), until 2010 known as the Gulf Cup for clubs, German Golf Club Cup, is a since 1982, with few exceptions, presented annually registered football competition for club teams in the six Arab members of the Gulf Cooperation Council ( Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf or Gulf Cooperation Council - GCC) Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, by the Union of Arab Football Associations ( UAFA ) is organized. Eligible are each best teams in the national championship. Most were in a simple league round, played recently in a tournament with group and knock-out phase. Until the introduction of the AFC Champions League competition also served regularly as a qualification for their precursor Asia Champions Cup and the Arab Club Champions Cup. Coupled with a solid contingent of grid positions for the AFC Champions League for some of the Gulf states involved, the importance of competition but not decreased strongly, so that all currently top-ranked teams in the participating countries to start. The competition is the pedant at club level to the Gulf Cup for national teams, but without participants from Iraq and Yemen.
