GE Building
The GE Building (short for General Electric Building, formerly the RCA Building ) is a skyscraper in New York and part of the Rockefeller Center complex.
Description
After its completion in 1933, the GE Building was with its height of 259 meters long period (up to 1969) is the fifth tallest building in the world after the Empire State Building ( 381 meters with antenna 443 meters), the Chrysler Building (319 meters) and the American International Building ( 290 meters ) and the Bank of Manhattan Building (now 40 Wall Street ) ( 283 meters). Currently (as of 2014) it is still the 13 - tallest building in New York City.
In the GE Building of the headquarters of the broadcasting network NBC is housed.
Trivia
During construction of the GE Building the famous photo Lunch Atop a Skyscraper by Charles C. Ebbets, who documented the entire building was erected.
On the roof of the GE Building observation deck is the Top of the Rock. In addition, the NBC comedy series 30 Rock plays in the building.
