The Geba is the largest river of Guinea-Bissau. Its source is in the region Boké in Guinea, it flows through a piece of the southern part of Senegal.

The Geba, traveled already in 1446 by Nuno Tristão, opens after a total length of about 540 kilometers at Guinea -Bissau's capital Bissau in a large estuary in the Atlantic Ocean. It is navigable as far upstream Bafatá where the river empties Colufe. The larger Colubal flows 50 km upriver from Bissau already in the estuary of the Geba. In his bank or flood zones - wet season April to October - is grown among other rice.

During the Portuguese Colonial War until 1974, the river was the site of various military operations.
