Geena Davis

Virginia " Geena " Elizabeth Davis ( born January 21, 1956 in Wareham, Massachusetts ) is an American actress and film producer.

Career

Davis studied acting in Boston and graduated in 1979 with a bachelor's degree. Since then she has appeared in numerous films. In 1989, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Accidental Tourist. For Thelma & Louise, she received another nomination for Best Actress. In 1995, she played the lead role in Cutthroat Island, the film was one of the biggest financial failures of cinema history. In 2006, she was honored for her portrayal of the first U.S. President Mackenzie Allen in the short-lived series Welcome, Mrs. President for Best Actress in a Television Series ( Drama ) Golden Globe. Previously, she had already been tried for her performances in the films Thelma & Louise, A League of Their speechless and on the shortlist. In 2006 she was also nominated for Welcome, Mrs. President for an Emmy.

In 1999 she took part in archery at the U.S. Trials for the Olympics. They came in 24th place out of 28 participants in the final and thus failed to make it to the team.

Private life

Davis is married to fourth marriage to Reza Jarrahy since 2001. The couple has three children, one born in 2002 and daughter born in 2004, twin sons. Previously, she was, among other things with the actor Jeff Goldblum and director Renny Harlin married.

Davis is a member of Mensa.
