History

Between 500 and 700, it came to the town founded by immigrant Bavarians. Leader of the clan, who settled here was a man named Gisil from which the settlement received its name ( Gisilfeld, Gisinvelt, Gisenvelt ). 736 was the first hop production by infiltrating contact and thus the foundation of the Hallertau. Count Eberhard II of Sempt, Ebersberg founded in 1037 the Benedictine monastery Geisen field. 1230 was the establishment of the church instead of the Ainauer Ainauer castle. 1281 or 1310, the place a market town will be charged. 1407-1409 was the construction of a ring wall around Geisen field. 1410 began the construction of Vitus Church in Geisenfeld winds. 1874 appeared the " Geisenfelder weekly paper " for the first time. In 1888 there was the first phone in Geisenfeld. From 1899 to 1900 Geisenfeld got electric light. 1905 there was a first automobile in Geisenfeld, owned by the brewer Josef Münch. 1906, the rail link Geisen field Wolnzach station was opened. In 1952 the municipal rights, the district court Geisenfeld is dissolved in 1972. Between 1971 to 1978 were made eleven incorporations ( see below). In 1983 the new town hall was opened in 1985, the hospital converted into a retirement home. In 1989, the railway line is set. 2002 will be completed, the flood exposure.

The origin of the Geisenfelder coat of arms is not clearly understood. It is assumed that it is derived from the coat of arms of the monastery Geisen field. The oldest colored reproductions of the coat of arms from the years 1565, 1568 and 1590th show the silver zigzag bar in the red box. In 1818, the colors were, by an error of the former Magistrates under Mayor Anton Stephan, reversed. Since that time, the official Mayor Siegel has the red zigzag bar. Traffic

The place was connected across the railway line Wolnzach - Geisen field to the railway network. The track has since been shut down.
