Geisfeld

Geisfeld is a municipality in the Trier -Saar castle in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hermes wedge.

Geography

Geisfeld is located in the Black Forest High forest and in the Saar -Hunsrück. The municipality also includes the residential places Birkenhof, Forestry House King Field, Simon mill ( Geisfeldermühle ) and Bauscheiderhof and a few houses of the otherwise associated with Hermes wedge town abbey.

History

As " Gaurici campus" (field of Gaugerich ) belonged to the 883 mentioned place the Trier monastery of St. Paulin.

Attractions

The church of St. Mary was built based on plans by the baroque architect Balthasar Neumann in 1753 /54 and received 1770/71 their equipment. Tower and sacristy of an older church were integrated into the new building.
