Geographical Location
Gelchsheim lies in the Würzburg region in the southern part of the Ochsenfurter Gaus.
Community structure

History
Gelchsheim is proven to be over 800 years old, according to the place names research certainly much older. The village name is attested in 1136 as Goulichsheim. The original installation of the lock of the market town dates back to the time of the previous Gaugrafen of Hohenlohe. It was partially since 1219 in the possession of the Teutonic Order. Over time, the Order won the municipal government, where he built an official residence. Gelchsheim belonged to Deutschordensballei Franks, who from 1500 was once again a part of the Frankish kingdom circle.
