Geography

Gelfingen is located at the northern end of the Baldeggersee in Lucerne part of the Lake Valley. Population

The number of inhabitants rose in the first half of the 19th century and fluctuated from 1850 to 1990 always 440-520 people, mostly around 500 inhabitants. The lowest number was found in the 1888 census. For 15 years the population increases rapidly (growth from 1990 to 2004: 48.0 %).

Languages

Gelfingen has its own stop on the Seetalbahn as the railway line Luzern- Lenzburg is called. History

The place Gelvingun is in a protective letter from King Henry III for the first time. mentioned in the Canons Beromunster in 1045. He belonged to the rule of the Knights of Heidegg that were first vassals of the Counts of Lenzburg, then the Habsburgs. In fact, in 1386, nominally until 1415 under the rule of Lucerne.
