Gelongma Lama Palmo

Choje Lama Palmo ( wylie: chos rje bla ma dpal mo; * 1970 as Sabine Januschke in Vienna) is one of the few female lamas and teachers of Tibetan Buddhism and the only non-Asian female Choje Lama in the entire history of Tibetan Buddhism.

She teaches the Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism and is the first Buddhist priestess of Austria.

Choje Lama Palmo is Director of Palpung Europe and lives since 2004 in Austria.

Life

Choje Lama Palmo graduated from the Vienna Business School, studied German and Romance Languages ​​at the University of Vienna and graduated in germanistischer Medieval Studies. She worked until her monastic ordination as a freelance journalist, in public relations and as a photographer.

In 1998 she received the first monastic vows and entered 2000 in the traditional Kagyu three Jahresretreat in KTD, USA a. Immediately after its completion it was sent to Japan in 2004 and in the same year to Austria. In December 2004, she received the full monastic ordination a Gelongma ( Tib: dge slong ma) or bhikkhuni within the Vietnamese Zen Buddhism.

In 2006 she met the Dalai Lama and Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorje in private audiences. Both gave their advice and blessings for the projects of Lama Palmo. In 2007 she was appointed by Tai Situ Rinpoche as director and teacher in residence of Palpung Yeshe Ling Chökhor Europe.

On July 22, 2013 Lama Palmo of Chamgon Dorje Chang Tai Situ Rinpoche was appointed Choje Lama.

Activities

She leads Palpung Europe in Purkersdorf near Vienna, maintains the branch stores in the German-speaking Austria and Germany. Choje Lama Palmo is actively involved in interfaith dialogue and invites you to a symposium with representatives of various religious denominations annually.
