Gemini Awards

Gemini Awards were awards for the best English-language television films and television series in Canada. The TV price was comparable to the Emmy Award in the USA. The French-Canadian counterpart were the Prix Gémeaux.

It was founded by the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television ( Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television).

The first ceremony took place in 1986. Gemini Awards have been awarded annually in Toronto, Ontario in 87 categories. For the life work of one or more artists with the Earle Grey Award each year was honored. The statue was designed by designer Scott Thornley.

2013 Gemini Awards and the Genie Awards from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television by the new Canadian Screen Awards were replaced.
