Gene Anderson

Gene Anderson ( born 1933 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, † October 31, 1991; actually Eugene Anderson Avon ) was an American professional wrestler who was best known as the tag team partner of Ole Anderson.

Wrestling career

Gene Anderson began in 1961 with the wrestling and was trained by Verne Gagne. In 1965 he founded the Tag Team Minnesota Wrecking Crew along with Lars Anderson, who appeared as his brother. They went on, especially in the territories to Florida and were allowed to win multiple tag team title there.

Gene then founded together with Ole Anderson 1969, a new tag team. Again, both acted as brothers. They were one of the most successful heel tag teams of the 1970s. By 1981 they dominated the tag team scene in the southeastern United States. Among other things, they were the first winners of the NWA World Tag Team Championship, which later emerged the WCW World Tag Team Championship. The Championship they could win a total of seven times.

1981 Gene Anderson resigned for health reasons from active wrestling and acted as manager of, among others, Jimmy Snuka, Ivan Koloff and Ray Stevens. In 1984 he left the wrestling business for good.

After wrestling

After Anderson had retired from active wrestling, he was Deputy Sheriff in North Carolina. On 31 October 1991, he died of a heart attack.

Genes son Brad Anderson was also wrestler who competed for a short time in the NWA.
