Gene Milford

Arthur Eugene "Gene " Milford ( born January 19, 1902 in Lamar, Colorado; † 23 December 1991 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American editor who won the Oscar for Best Editing twice.

Biography

Milford began in 1926 at the Two Can Play his career as an editor in the film industry in Hollywood and until 1979 worked with nearly 110 film and television productions.

1955 Won Oscar Best Film Editing for: On the Waterfront (1954).

At the Academy Awards in 1935 he was among the nominees for the first ever Oscar for Best Editing and indeed for One Night of Love ( The shining goal, 1934). At the Academy Awards in 1938, he then got together with Gene Havlick the Oscar in this category for in of Shangri - La ( 1937). His second Oscar for the best cut he got in 1955 awarded specifically for On the Waterfront (1954).

Other well-known films, where he worked as an editor were, Prior blondes warned (1931 ), A Face in the Crowd (1957 ), Splendor in the Grass (1961 ), Taras Bulba (1962 ), strangers Bedfellows (1965 ), One Man is hunted (1966 ), wait until it is dark (1967 ), countdown start to the Moon ( 1967) or Two dirty scoundrels (1970).

1988 Milford was the first ACE Career Achievement Award, by the Guild of Cutter (American Cinema Editors ) prize awarded for lifetime achievement in the film section.
