Gene Nelson

Gene Nelson (Actually Eugene Leander Berg) ( born March 24, 1920 in Seattle, Washington, USA, † September 16, 1996 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American film director, actor, screenwriter and film producer.

Gene was 13 years old when he saw 1933 Fred Astaire in " Flying Down To Rio ", a film that sparked his desire to become a dancer.

After graduating high school, he toured three years with the ice show of Sonja Henie by the States before he joined the army and fought in World War II.

After his discharge from the Army in 1945, he came before 1950 in a handful of films. His film partners have included Debbie Reynolds, Doris Day and Virginia Mayo.

For his work on "Tea for Two " with Doris Day Golden Globe Award in 1951 for Best Gene was coming actor.

After the end of his dance career, he decided to become a director.

Gene Nelson was married twice, 1940-1951 by Miriam Franklin and 1958-1974 with the future set designer Marilyn Morgan. Three children were born out of the relationships.

Gene Nelson died of cancer.
