Gene Siskel

Eugene "Gene " Kal Siskel ( born January 26, 1946 in Chicago, † February 20 1999 in Evanston, Illinois ) was an American journalist, film critic and television presenter.

He worked for the Chicago Tribune and was considered one of the most respected film critic of the United States. He became known through the television show At the Movies with Siskel & Ebert, in which he, together with his colleague Roger Ebert rated films from 1982 to 1999. Siskel died at the age of 53 years to a brain tumor. His successor in the TV show was Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun- Times. The program was called Ebert & Roeper since then and ran until 2008.
