General Certificate of Secondary Education

The General Certificate of Secondary Education ( GCSE ) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education ( IGCSE ) correspond in England, Wales and Northern Ireland about the German high-school diploma. These tests are also stored when students continue to go to school, to work towards the university entrance qualification. The GCSEs are in the British school system as the most important final exam for secondary school ( high school).

Students usually have to attend in eight to fifteen subjects GCSE examinations.

The grading range extends from A * for the best grade to G, or U for a unbewertbare performance.

There are a wide range of GCSE examinations, but these are not all organized by the state but by competing, approved by the State " Examination Board ".

After GCSE examinations that are completed usually around the age of 16 years, the tests of the AS -level and at the age of 18 years can the A -level examinations are completed at the age of about 17 years.
