General der Panzertruppe

General of Panzer troops was a military rank in the armed forces, according to the former general ranks of the German armies as general of infantry, cavalry general and general of artillery.

An officer in the rank held usually the capacities of the Commanding General of an armored or motorized army corps, partly also the commander in chief of an army or army tanks. The first appointment was made on November 1, 1935, when the then " Commanding General of Panzer Troops" and former " Chief of Automotive troops and army motorization " Oswald Lutz was promoted to this rank.
