Description

The F110 and F101 is a derivative of the same design used for the core engine. In addition, some new insights are taken from the F404, the new engine compared to the F101 was reduced in diameter. The new engine was first F101X, later referred to in the course of development as F101DFE in December 1979 and had its first run. The F110 was used in turn as the basis for the nachbrennerlose F118 engine in the B-2 bomber.

Used this engine in fighter aircraft such as the F -14B / D ( F110 -GE- 400), the F -15K ( F110 -GE -129 ) and the F- 16C / D ( F110 -GE- 100, F110 -GE- 129 and F110 -GE- 132). The production of F- 16C / D with F110 engines began in mid-1986 after this engine has been selected by the U.S. Air Force in 1984.
