General Honor Decoration (Hesse)

The General Honour is one of Grand Duke Ludwig III. donated by Hesse on September 25, 1843 decorations that could be awarded in various designs for Services:

  • For Bravery
  • For military services
  • For merits
  • For Faithful Service
  • For many years Faithful Service
  • For fifty years of Faithful Service
  • For saving lives
  • For Repeated saving lives
  • For loyalty work

1894, the Statutes of the Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig was changed and the Order was conferred solely as Hessian medal for bravery in the future.

The religious character is a silver medal, which shows the left -facing portrait of the founder on the front. On the back are of a laurel (left) and oak wreath (right) enclosed the words FOR BRAVERY.

From mid- 1917 the production of the coin was only silver plated. With the end of the monarchy in November 1918, the order was not awarded.
