General Inter-ORB Protocol

GIOP (General Inter-ORB Protocol) refers to an abstract protocol for communication of Object Request Brokers (ORBs ) in the area of ​​distributed computing.

When GIOP is a defined in CORBA 2.0 abstract protocol for communication between ORBs. The GIOP is independent of the transport protocol used.
