General People's Committee

The General People's Committee (Arabic اللجنة الشعبية العامة ) acted as the Libyan government, and was the secretary for various ministries of Libya.

It was de jure as an intermediary between the leadership of the masses and the governance and consisted with the participation of the Secretary-General's own from twenty secretaries of some 600 local "basic popular committees " (BPC ). The members were elected by the parliament of the country and had no fixed term of office.
