Generalissimus of the Soviet Union

Generalissimo of the Soviet Union (Russian Генералиссимус Советского Союза ) was a military rank, which was awarded introduced on June 27, 1945 and Joseph Stalin. It was the highest military rank of the Soviet Union, but which could be awarded only in the war for the Supreme Commander. Stalin was therefore the only carrier of this title, since continued at this time of the Second World War, despite the defeat of the Third Reich or against the Empire of Japan until 2 September 1945.

The rank was designed following the tradition of the tsarist army. The insignia of the North Korean rank Dae Wonsu are heavily based on the design of those of the Generalissimo of the Soviet Union.
