Generation "П"

Generation P from the year 1999 is in the Russian-speaking one of the most popular novels of the 90s and helped the Russian author Victor Pelevin's international breakthrough. Was translated into German, the novel by Andreas Tretner.

The satire plays in post-Soviet Russia in the 1990s and describes the lifestyle of young people who have grown up in the Soviet Union. The main character is a PR agent who runs through the Moscow life, makes career in the advertising industry and holds ideas in the form of slogans in his notebook. He also does not shy away from drug use. Treff end descriptions of reality are interwoven with science fiction elements and esotericism. Pelevin plays with different styles. He mixes advertising Lang and everyday language or changes in mid-sentence into English.

About the interpretation of the letter "P" can only speculate. Major theories are "P" for Pepsi, perestroika, Postmodernism and Public Relations.

In 2000, the SWR produced an eight -part radio play version in the processing of Katrin Zipse. Ulrich lamps directed.

An adaptation of the novel, directed by Victor Ginzburg was released in 2011.
