Geneva Summit (1955)

The Geneva summit conference of USA, USSR, Great Britain and France took place from 18 July 23, 1955 and was organized the first meeting of Heads of State and Government of the four victorious powers of World War II, when France was not represented at the Potsdam Conference in 1945. The Government agreed to a subsequent meeting of their foreign ministers, the first Geneva Conference of Foreign Ministers.

Participant

For the United States took Eisenhower and Dulles, part of the Soviet Union, Bulganin, Khrushchev and Molotov, UK Prime Minister Eden, Macmillan and Foreign Minister of France Prime Minister Faure with Foreign Minister Antoine Pinay. From two German states delegations were admitted as observers.

Result

The conclusion of the conference was the Geneva directive that includes the reunification of Germany on the basis of free elections as a condition of a détente in Europe.
