The train station Gent- Sint -Pieters is the largest railway station of Ghent and measured at the ridership the third most important station in Belgium.

History

The origin of the station goes back to a small railway station on the line from Ghent to Ostend from 1881. At this time, the most important railway station of the city of South Railway Station in 1837. In connection with the World's Fair in 1913, a new station Sint -Pieters was built. It was designed by Louis Cloquet and opened a year earlier. In 1995, the station was declared a national monument and renovated in 2006.
