Genzano di Roma

Genzano di Roma is a town in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, located about 23 856 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 29 km southeast of Rome.

Geography

Genzano is located in the Alban hills above the Lake Nemi, an extinct volcano. The old town is situated on the former crater rim in a promising position. It belongs to the municipalities of the Castelli Romani.

Culture

  • Infiorata: For over 200 years, every year on the weekend of Corpus Christi instead of the infiorata, when in Via Italo Belardi a huge carpet of flowers is designed, which shows different images on approximately 2000 m².

Specialty

In Genzano the DOC wines Colli Colli Lanuvini and Lanuvini superiore are produced.

Policy

Enzo Ercolani (center - left coalition ) was elected in May 2006 to the mayor. His center-left alliance also with 13 of 18 seats, the majority in the City Council.
