GEO (magazine)
The magazine Geo (own spelling GEO ) is a feature magazine of the Hamburg publishing house Gruner and year and was launched in 1975 by Rolf Gillhausen. The first official book went on sale in October 1976. The magazine is especially known for its opulent photo galleries and detailed reports. Topics range from science such as medicine and biology to politics to travel. Editor in Chief is currently Peter -Matthias Gaede. Deputy chief editor and editor in chief of both Geo.de was from 2008-2010 Christoph Kucklick.
Meanwhile, there are editions in 17 different countries, including in the languages Bulgarian, English ( for the Indian market ), French, Greek, Italian, Croatian, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Czech, Turkish and Hungarian.

In the fourth quarter of 2012 the average circulation was IVW at 288 068 copies. These are 13,396 copies per issue less ( -4.44 %) than in the same quarter last year. The number of subscribers increased to 13,146 subscribers within a year to an average of 204 056 per issue from ( -6.05 %); so based approximately 70.84 % of the readers, the magazine subscription.

Besides Geo, the green rimmed monthly magazine, there is the so-called line extensions - independent magazine series, which also appear under the logo GEO and each use a different color as the cover border.
Book Family
Under the brand Geo numerous books and picture books, partly in rows appear.
- Geo Edition is a large-format picture book series that presents selected countries and carries the subtitle The most beautiful pictures.
- From September 2006 to 2009, at the end of 35 volumes existing GEO topics lexicon appeared.
- GEOlino library is a book series that includes 20 youth book classics such as Moby Dick, Robin Hood, Till Eulenspiegel.

When TV channel Arte magazine 360 runs - Geo- reportage with a length of 30 or 55 minutes.
Day of Biodiversity
On June 5, 1999 Geo called the annual Geo - day biodiversity to life. Task of the participants is to discover as many different plants and animals within 24 hours in a limited area. By changing project partners the magazine organized a major event and calls simultaneously to accompanying actions. Meanwhile, the day of the biggest biodiversity field research campaign in Central Europe has become. Projects for Biodiversity Day find it but instead the world.
