Geoff Tate

Geoff Tate ( born January 14, 1959 in Stuttgart) is an American metal singer and songwriter. He is a founding member and former lead singer of the progressive metal band Queensrÿche. Geoff Tate was elected by Hit Parader ranked 14th of the 100 greatest metal singer of all time. That Metal Show named him one of the five greatest metal singer of all time.

Life

Tate's father was an officer in the U.S. Army and was stationed at the time of Tate's birth in Stuttgart. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to Tacoma, Washington.

Tate cites as his influences Rob Halford of Judas Priest and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. He began his musical career in the progressive rock band myth, whose first album, Arabia was not published until after Tate had left the band. He joined in 1981 the band The Mob, which later was Queensrÿche. The band had been some full demo songs, but there was still a song without words, and this ( "The Lady Wore Black" ) was Tate's first song he wrote for Queensrÿche. In 1983, the band released their self-produced debut EP Queensrÿche.

On 20 June 2012 it was announced that Geoff Tate and Queensrÿche from now would go their separate ways. He was replaced by Crimson Glory vocalist Todd La Torre. September 1, 2012 Geoff Tate announced that he wanted to call its own version of Queensrÿche to life. The dispute over the naming rights is not yet finished. In addition to his work with Queensrÿche Geoff Tate has released two solo albums. In 2002, he released his self-titled debut on Sanctuary Records in 2012 and was followed by Kings & Thieves via InsideOut Music.

Tate is married and has four daughters. His daughter Miranda is the ex - wife of Queensrÿche guitarist Parker Lundgren. Tate is a vegetarian and operates a winery that keltert a wine called Insania.
