Geoffrey Allan Crossley

Geoffrey Allan Crossley CMC ( * November 11, 1920, † 13 June 2009) was a British diplomat. He was British Ambassador in Switzerland, in Colombia and in the Vatican.

Life

Geoffrey Allan Crossley worked from December 1942 the Allied Forces Headquarters AFHQ in Algiers. As the Comité français de la Libération was formed national, Crossley was at this the representative of his queen. In October 1944, he was transferred as Secretary of second class to Paris. On October 30, 1945, he was appointed to the Foreign Service. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO ), he was employed from 21 January 1948 as Secretary of third class. On November 11, 1948, he was promoted to Secretary of second class. On August 20, 1949, he was sent to the Special Committee of the United Nations for the Balkans to Athens. On 1 July 1953 he was promoted to Secretary first class. As of February 21, 1955 he was reinstated in the FCO. On June 28, 1957 he was appointed British Consul in Frankfurt am Main, where he served as Managing General from 1957 to 1959. In August 1959 he was appointed to the Political Bureau of the Middle East Forces in Cyprus, where he served in 1961 as a political representative. In October 1961 he was sent to Bern, where he was charge d'affaires.
