Geoffrey Eglinton

Geoffrey Eglinton, FRS (* 1927 in Cardiff ) is a British chemist and professor emeritus and senior research fellow of Earth Sciences at Bristol University. Eglinton combined as one of the first researchers to organic chemistry with the geochemistry, and was co-founder of Organic Geochemistry.

In 1997 he won the Royal Medal for the study of the chemical processes that go in the formation and migration of petroleum in front of him. The elucidation of these processes was of great importance to the petroleum industry. In 2004 he was awarded the Wollaston Medal, and in 2008 he was awarded for his studies of chemical fossils along with Ellen Moseley - Thompson and Lonnie G. Thompson the Dan David Prize.
