Geoffrey IV, Count of Anjou

Gottfried IV (c. 1073, † May 19, 1106 ), called Martel, was a Erbgraf of Anjou. He was the eldest son of Count Fulk IV the Wrangler and his second wife, Ermengarde de Bourbon.

Gottfried took part in the riots Angevin vassal against his unpopular father. He was supported by his friend, Elias de La Flèche, as Gottfried backer in the fight against the Normans in around Maine. 1103 he took a Angers and forced his father to him to participate in the regency. Gottfried died in 1106 for his part in the siege of the rebellious castle Carné after he was hit by a poisoned arrow.

Gottfried was betrothed to the heiress of the county of Maine, Eremburge de La Flèche. This was later to marry his half-brother Fulk the Younger.
