Geoffrey Toone

Geoffrey Toone (* November 15, 1910 in Dublin, † 1 June 2005 in Northwood, Middlesex ) was an Irish actor.

Life

Toone began his artistic career in 1931 at the Old Vic Theatre School. Nearly 70 active years as an actor on stage, in film and television should follow. Toone played in London's West End and from 1934 with John Gielgud in the New Theater Company. Further stations of his career on the stage were Liverpool, New York's Broadway ( debut 1948), Bristol and Toronto.

In 1938 he made his film debut in the Production Sword of Honour. He played under the direction of Carol Reed The Man in between (1953), Douglas Sirk ( Captain Lightfoot ) next to Yul Brynner in the musical The King and I (1956 ) and Once more, with feeling, alongside Roger Moore in the historical film Diane - courtesan of France (1956 ), opposite Laurence Olivier in the Entertainer (1960), alongside Christopher Lee in the horror film terror of the Tongs (1961) and alongside Peter Cushing in the film version of the popular British television series Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965).
